Gay Africans Seek Haven

The parliament in Uganda seeks capital punishment for people who engage in homosexual acts. There is suspicion that this anti-gay mindset has its root in the teachings of U.S. evangelical groups. Uganda has received international attention, but it is not the only African nation with anti-gay laws. This may lead to more LGBT people seeking refuge in other countries, including the United States, if the international community doesn’t put pressure on Uganda and other African countries. Oddly, The United Nations and the U.S. State Department do not track whether refugees are displaced due to sexual orientation.
