Gays in the military come out
Published September 23, 2011 | The don’t ask, don’t tell (DADT) law took effect during the Bill Clinton era in 1993 and was the first step towards equality for gay people in the military. Now, 18 years later thanks to President Obama’s administration – also Democrats – homosexuals are able to openly express their sexual preferences without fear of losing their status in the military. As a result, many service men and women have come out to openly declare their preferences and this momentous victory in American history.
